What ARMA is, what ARMA is not, and what its services do not replace.
Independent advisory, not a public law firm
ARMA — AR Maritime Advisors provides independent maritime advisory and risk support. ARMA is not a public law firm and does not offer legal representation as a general practice.
Does not replace legal counsel
ARMA's services do not replace the advice of your own licensed attorney. Where a matter has legal implications, ARMA recommends — and in some cases requires — that you obtain independent legal counsel.
Does not replace certified surveyors when required
ARMA's technical reviews are visual and non-destructive unless expressly contracted otherwise. Where a certified survey — including SAMS/NAMS or an equivalent credential — is required by an insurer, lender, or authority, ARMA does not represent itself as that certified surveyor unless it holds the applicable credential, and will say so plainly.
Does not replace insurers, adjusters, banks, class societies, regulators, or other specialists
ARMA's advisory work supports — and does not substitute — the roles of insurers, claims adjusters, banks and lenders, classification societies, regulatory authorities, Capitanía de Puerto, SEMAR, customs and import authorities, notaries public, brokers, repair yards, and OEM specialists. Any approval, certification, or acceptance required from these parties remains theirs to give.
No guaranteed approvals
ARMA does not guarantee that any insurer, bank, authority, Capitanía, SEMAR, customs office, or other third party will accept, approve, or act on an ARMA report or recommendation.
No guarantee of future condition
ARMA's findings reflect the condition of the vessel and the state of the record at the time of review. ARMA does not guarantee the vessel's future condition or performance.
No guarantee against hidden defects
ARMA's reviews are visual and non-destructive within an agreed scope. They do not guarantee the absence of hidden or latent defects that are not reasonably observable within that scope.
No escrow or custody of funds
ARMA does not hold, custody, or act as escrow for client funds under any circumstance.
No SAMS/NAMS claim without credential
ARMA does not represent itself as a SAMS, NAMS, or other certified marine surveyor unless it holds that specific credential, which will be stated explicitly where applicable.
Reports are not tailored to close a transaction
ARMA's findings and recommendations reflect the vessel's actual condition and the available record. ARMA does not adjust, soften, or tailor a report's conclusions to help close a sale, satisfy a broker, or meet a deadline.
General limitation
Each ARMA report states its own specific scope, limitations, and the evidence it relies on. This general disclaimer does not replace the scope and limitations stated in a specific engagement or report.
